I must be honest. I was not planning to post anything today, mainly because today has been so busy! But God would not let me go to sleep without doing a post. I have posted every Sunday since being back in SA, so don’t need to stop now.
I just want to encourage you tonight. I must start by asking, “How are you doing?” We are a little more than four months into 2015 and I am just curious how life has been so far this year. I know for me life has been quite hectic! Very busy, demanding, and even stressful. My faith has been tested over and over again. Satan has tried to distract me from focusing on God’s will for my life many times. I slowly feel myself being stretched a little too thin, but God…
Despite all of this every time I feel ready to throw in the towel and give up, God is right there ready to whisper an encouraging word in my ear. As I write this I get an image of me in a boxing ring. I am the boxer and God is my coach. I have been fighting round after round and I am getting tired. God calls me back to my corner. I am ready to quit. Life is beating me up, but God reminds me of my purpose. God reminds me of my calling. He reminds me of my strength. He has prepared me for such a time as this. He reminds me that this is just a formality. I have actually already won the match! I already have the victory!
How can this be???
Well simple. Jesus Christ! It has all been paid in full for you and me! No matter how hard life gets or how many times you get knocked down, you will come out on top! You will win!
So be encouraged! God has equipped you with everything you need in order to keep fighting the good fight! He does not make any mistakes. You can only win with God on your side.
So let your light shine! Take some time this week and reflect on your year so far. If you feel tired and worn out allow God to renew your spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a second wind. Spend a little extra time this week praying and seeking God’s rest.
If your fire is still burning bright then reach out to someone who’s fire is dwindling. Pray for them and encourage them to keep going, keep believing, keep fighting.
I want to leave this scripture with you. I pray it ministers to your situation and that you meditate on it during this week:
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his people in the kingdom of light.”
Colossians 1: 9-12
