21 Days of Surrender: Day 15 Strength, Power, & Wisdom…Forever & Ever!

Today marks the 3rd Monday of our 21 Day Fast and the depth and understanding we have all gained through meeting together daily is truly grace filled. This morning we focused on three fundamental characteristics of God’s nature; His Strength, His Power and His Wisdom. The exploration of His nature is revealed throughout His Word, yet today we decided to pay close attention to The Book of Isaiah. Not only is this Word prophetic but it also depicts the depth and beauty of God’s love towards us for His Glory. Many of us can admit that we shy away from the Old Testament because through human eyes, God appears violent angry and unreasonable therefore to be feared and avoided. However, if we were to take a closer look, through His grace we will begin to understand and bask in the reverence of His Holiness, His endless pursuit and His undying love.

If strength is categorised as enduring stamina, then it is amazing to see how this God depicts His Salvation in Isaiah 54: 10

“For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed’ Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”

If we begin to slowly grapple with this, we will see that the kindness and mercy of The Lord towards us is everlasting, persevering and enduring. The Lord will pursue us and love us long after the mountains and the hills fade away and mechanical weathering is not a fast process. Therefore, The Lord in all His might, carries the ability and strength to pursue and love a people who are born in transgression. Yet His endurance has the ability to purify and change a wicked heart. It takes strength to love someone ferociously knowing fully well that they are incapable of loving you back. But His perseverance and enduring kindness stretches beyond all borders and times. He will not grow weary, or irritable or overwhelmed. His strength will pierce through the darkness within our hearts and cause us to love Him back.

Isaiah also displays the unmatchable power of our King. In chapter 46: 8-11, The Lord declares that there is no other God like Him, why, well He answers this for Himself;

“I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done…vs 11..Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.”

The Lord demonstrates how powerful He is by revealing just who He is. He is God, who speaks the beginning and the end into existence, meaning HE created EVERYTHING we see. He commands the birds to chirp, the horse to run, the seas to rage, the rain to fall down, the clouds to move, the sun to shine, the stars to hold their place, the flowers to blossom and man to grow. He commands it all, He is sovereign and everything we see is all His idea, including salvation. He is powerful enough to melt the heart of stone and change the leopard spots.

If this is truly how powerful our Lord is, then our prayers will begin to change and a deep and holy reverential fear will begin to take root. If this is how majestic and glorious He is yet we cannot see it, then we ought to pray to see it knowing that He is able to cause us to see it.

The proclamation of God’s wisdom is also displayed in this Word. In Isaiah 55: 8-9 The Lord states:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways…”

It’s simply yet difficult, The Lord does not think like us, therefore He does not get irritated, nor tired, nor overwhelmed by our constant petitions, He delights in growing righteousness within us. Likewise, the struggle we face are not struggles we as human beings would gladly walk into knowing that it will produce holiness, but they are allowed by God to bring to pass the holiness He desires within us at whatever cost. This is both glorious and humbling, knowing that we have a constant Father who NEVER gets worn out by us and who allows situations or transgression to reign so that grace reigns even more to produce holiness!

All that has been said is nothing new, but how merciful is our Father to cause us to take hold and root of this common yet radical Word. He is altogether Wise, Powerful and Enduring. If we truly believe it by His Grace, then we will begin to live in reverence, reliance and awe of God knowing that He has inscribed us on the palm of His Hands (Isaiah: 49:16). This is The Lord we serve, The Lord who changed us through His endless, unmatched love. He will bring to pass what He has purposed in you and I.
