This weekend I and my fellow “Daniel Fasters” attended a seminar held by our church called World Changers Intensive. Just like the name suggests it was a three days of intense sessions on how to change the world for God’s Kingdom. We spent the weekend away (without internet hence the reason for no day 19 and 20 posts) learning about how other people have changed the world in various areas, receiving prophetic words and learning how to walk boldly in the prophetic, and learning how to determine God’s will for our lives. It was certainly intense as we grappled with being world changers for God’s Kingdom!
God has called every believer to be a world changer! In Matthew 28:16-20 Jesus gives the disciples and us a great charge to change the world! He says:
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus calls all of us to go into the world, our neighbourhood, place of work, family, friend group, city, and country to make disciples! We are charged to make disciples of ALL nations! We are to baptize them in His name and teach them to obey everything He has commanded! Basically change the world!
This is not an option or a suggestion. This is a command by God to us! Even though we all have different callings on our lives, His will for us to change the world is the same. God has given us all different gifts and wills for us to use them in all different ways, but the underlying purpose of all our lives is to change this world by making disciples of all the nations!
This may seem a bit daunting. Believe me I feel the pressure too, but we can be encouraged because Jesus never commands us to do something without also giving us the means to do it. The last part of this scripture is all about the means. Jesus promises to be with us. Not only does He promise to be with us some of the time or only when we really really need Him, but He promises to be with us…ALWAYS.
Always. There will never be a moment that Jesus is not with us. Guiding us, directing us, protecting us, providing for us, and loving us. Even if there are times we don’t feel Him near or hear His voice, He is still there. In fact, Jesus then gives us a time limit for His constant presence and support: to the very end of the age. He will never leave us until He comes back to be with us and take us to Heaven.
Until that time He has left His Helper. Advocate. The Holy Spirit. All throughout this fast, we have learned that we can do NOTHING without the help of the Holy Spirit. Every time we thought we could do it alone, the Holy Spirit came and showed us that we can only do so much and go so far without Him. But with Him there are no limitations! Impossible ceases to exist!
This has been an incredible 21 days. So many lessons learned, revelations, convictions, and growth! Yes there were hard moments when temptations threatened to get the best of us, but through the Holy Spirit we were able to remain strong and tap into a power and strength we never imagined.
God spoke so clearly about all the things we were trusting for this season. He gave direction; renewed our hope; and increased our faith in His ability to keep His promises for our lives. What a great way to end our fast with instructions to go out and change the world! God has equipped us with the tools to be effective, and anything we don’t have He will provide along the way. We must continue the work that Jesus began and actually do more than He ever did!
I pray this series has blessed you, inspired you, encouraged you, and convicted you. I pray that you too will be a world changer!
